Product Description:
This Pinotage is pronounced "Phoenix" and is a grape variety. The name comes from the fact that the producer wanted to remove the vines, but Bernhard talked him out of it. Very fine, supple and fresh with pure cherry fruit and a beautiful chalk structure and good acidity. Very fine and expressive, with nice weight and precision. Straightforward and refined, yet also structured.

Vinifikation A unique old single vineyard Pinotage planted in 1976. Unirrigated bush vines rooted in coarse-grained, decomposed granite soils with high silica content. This is also South Africa's closest Pinotage to the ocean. At the foot of Sinai Hill, just south of Stellenbosch. Low-yielding vines with uniquely small berries. Aged in 400-liter barrels, no new oak, and 12 months on lees.
