After thorough tasting of our South African red wines, we crown Anthonij Rupert Optima as one of our three kings of 2024.
Merlot 37%, Cabernet Franc 28%, Cabernet Sauvignon 35%
The aroma of violets, blackberries, cherries, cocoa, spices and fruit cake is immediately seductive, with a hint of classic Black Forest gateau. The palate is soft, round, velvety and lovely with a dry finish with the same ripe and rich flavours. It is supple, structured and elegant, offering focus and a velvety appeal.
Goes great with all hearty meat dishes.

Our king of white wines comes from Stellenrust. We at KapWeine are convinced of the quality of this special white wine and do not want to keep it from you. Try the White Wine of the Year 2024, the Stellenrust 58 Chenin Blanc 2022.
Distinctive, complex and structurally sophisticated. Brioche, quince and pear mingle on the nose. Creamy density and fullness on the palate, silky in texture, sophisticated. The acidity structure ensures harmony and wonderfully complements the caramel, honey and panna cotta notes. The wood is perfectly balanced. Powerful and astonishing, complex and a little independent.
Try this wine with a confit duck with oranges or a sous vide cooked salmon with baby spinach and a blue potato mousseline.

Pinotage of the Year
The Diemersdal Pinotage Reserve 2021 is an outstanding representative of South African wine quality and thus our Pinotage King.
Full-bodied with aromas of dark berries and plums, well-balanced with complex flavours from French oak barrels. Elegant, aromatic with soft tannins and a long finish. The Pinotage is ready to drink, but can easily be stored in the cellar for another 5 years.
Excellent with grilled meats, game, risotto, pasta dishes with meat and savoury cheese. Drink it on its own or with leg of lamb from the Roman pot or with classic spaghetti with sun-dried tomatoes, rosemary and Parmesan shavings.
