KapWeine Charity
Solidarity triumphs
Kapweine is committed to investing a portion of its profits in South African society, so that children in South Africa and endangered animals can improve their quality of life. Here the wines speak, which thanks to your purchase contribute to improving life in South Africa.
Thanks to the solidarity of our KapWeine customers, the non-profit organization "Hope and Light" was able to help hundreds of families in South Africa threatened by social exclusion.
This year KapWeine was able to participate in one of the most anticipated golf and wine events in South Africa: the 2nd Charity Golf Trophy.
The 2nd Charity Golf Trophy at Golfpark Zürichsee, which took place on August 12, 2022, was again a huge success. Thanks to the enormous generosity of the participants and sponsors like KapWeine, the organization was able to raise around CHF 59,000 in donations. It is planned to use the donations carefully for the sponsorship fund, further social programs and vocational training.
The success was so important for South African society that the organization "Hope and Light" has already brought forward the date for a new meeting. The 3rd Charity Golf Trophy will not take place next year in August as originally planned due to space reasons, but on Friday, September 1, 2023 at the Golfclub Wilyhof, Luterbach SO.
The contribution of "Hope and Light" in 2022
"Hope and Light" has its first graduating class this year; the students were recently invited by Stellenbosch University for a tour, where they gained good insights into the various courses of study and training opportunities. A profiling test to help with career choice was recently conducted at the school by a specialist.
The goal is for every school leaver to be able to learn a profession in order to earn enough money for a life without poverty.
In the children's home, working with external social workers, parents, extended family and potential foster parents is a great challenge, which unfortunately does not pass the children by unnoticed. Hope and disappointment, love and rejection are often close together in the lives of the children in the home. A varied leisure program provides occupation and offers the opportunity to collect positive memories.
Playground renovation in the children's home: Last year, they extensively renovated the children's home buildings. The playground was still in a desolate condition, so playing was not much fun and was partly dangerous. Thanks to all generous donors; the children are overjoyed and now often spend their free time on the new playground.
Support classes 2021: The Swiss association has been funding needs-based support classes for children with learning difficulties for almost two years. They have thus built up a good network of very competent doctors and therapists who often volunteer for the association at reduced rates. Since many children come from very difficult circumstances and have learning deficits, the need for support classes is great. Currently, Hope and Light has a request on the table to finance a teacher for a small class (1st - 3rd grade) for children with learning difficulties.
First graduating class: The first high school graduates are leaving the "Hope and Light" school – see also the enclosed newspaper article. A good vocational education is a great challenge in South Africa, because not everyone is able and willing to study; the vocational apprenticeships known and proven in our country no longer exist.
Contribution to school fees for the poorest: Without financial support, most of the approximately 500 children would not be able to attend "Hope and Light" and benefit from the above-average education. Thanks to 16 sponsors and the sponsorship fund, the Swiss association finances the school fees for currently 42 children, so that even more children can benefit from the valuable sponsorship.
The Chocolate Block
After a successful start in December 2021, we have already raised CHF 5,000 in donations and transferred them to the Ubungani aid organization. In 2022, we are also ambitious to reach or exceed this amount.
The comedian Jonny Fischer from the comedy duo Divertimento and Ubugani are committed to the Baphumelele Children's and Orphanage Aid Organization in Khayelitsha near Cape Town and thus make the lives of many children in South Africa more bearable and help them to a good start into a better future. Kapweine has also developed in this direction this year, so that with the purchase of each bottle of Chocolate Block we donate CHF 3.00 to this wonderful project.
