The Cape Angels
at KapWeine
When you hear KapWeine, you probably think first of South African wines from the Cape. But as “The Home of South African Wines” we are so much more. We are not your average company; we are the Black Panther among wine merchants, in every respect. Whether it's top wines at great prices, crazy brandies like “Seriously Old Dirt” or “Brake a Leg”, or a provocative appearance, that's all just the tip of the iceberg. At the very top sits our “Makhulu” and CEO Andy Zimmermann on his throne, making sure we get the best out of everything! Because in 26 years of KapWeine, he has lived a quote from Nelson Mandela literally: “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
And so, every day KapWeine does the impossible and moves mountains to further establish South Africa in society. With charm, charisma, and a good dose of South African hospitality, we want to inspire our customers and serve them at our events. Because where there is good wine, it is worth being there. No wonder the good mood spills over and some want to become part of the KapWeine family.
But what lies beneath the surface of our iceberg?
KapWeine considers itself the largest small business, as we ultimately consist of only 10 people. (4 people in internal sales, 2 people in marketing, 2 people in the warehouse, 1 person in accounting, and 1 person as big boss.) We are all specialized in several areas of responsibility and actively support each other in all matters, as can be seen, for example, at events. But sometimes the man/woman-power is not enough.
Have you ever noticed that we are usually 30-40 people at events? Now you are surely asking yourselves, who are these nice people standing at the tasting tables, at the reception, at the grill, in the warehouse at the ramp, etc.? Who are they? Where do they come from?
We present: These are the Cape Angels of KapWeine, of whom we are particularly proud! Since we at KapWeine would go under without loyal souls at events or container deliveries, years ago we started taking in volunteers with the South Africa syndrome. Our portfolio now includes 80 Cape Angels, and the number is growing.
Occasionally, existing customers switch sides and actively participate as Cape Angels on the front lines and behind the scenes. We also gain new members through recommendations or former work colleagues, and of course, we are willing to give everyone a chance. Because most Cape Angels have good to very good wine knowledge and have already been to South Africa countless times, so they have a lot to tell about the Cape and the Winelands.
From former flight attendants to CEOs, consulting advisors, accountants, etc., right through to retirees, there is a lot of know-how involved. And precisely this knowledge is worth its weight in gold. Because what could be better than having honest, authentic, and sympathetic brand ambassadors on board? In addition, we are always happy when this large family comes together. Because each of these Cape Angels is an asset in their own way, and we appreciate each and every one for their proactive support and loyalty!
Do other wine merchants/importers have such luck? Well, as already mentioned, we are not your average company, and that's exactly what our customers appreciate! In this sense, if we have piqued your interest in becoming a Cape Angel, please write to us at info@kapweine.ch.
