Tip #39
How to recognize dry wine?
Why are some wines dry and others not? What is declared as dry wine does not always have to match one's own perception. Wine labels can be deceiving, as dry is not always dry. But what can you do if you want to be on the safe side? Use the following tip as support for your decision.
If the wine tingles on the tip of the tongue, this can be an indicator of dry wine. Above all, however, the residual sugar content is important. The following applies:
- 4-9g/l is dry
- 12-18g/l is semi-dry
Therefore, always refer to the wine label and study the values. And yes, of course there are wines that are known for their dryness.
