Three Ernie Els Wines
that you will never forget
Falstaff magazine, an expert in the wine sector and a reference in Europe, has reviewed three wines from Ernie Els . Here are the three wines you absolutely must try.
The Major Series is a Cabernet Sauvignon, according to Falstaff: "a variety that retains its typical characteristics even outside its original region in Bordeaux - the grape does not lose its typical characteristics even in Stellenbosch. The subtleties of the aromas are enhanced by the challenging 2017 vintage, which resulted in lower yields but excellent quality in Stellenbosch. Black cherry and ripe plums, fresh red fruits on the palate, a bouquet of classic cigar notes and red berries - the wine is perfect for demonstrating South Africa's class"

Major Series – Cabernet Sauvignon – 2017
95 Points by Decanter
Bouquet of red berries with classic cigar notes over elegant crushed dried herbs, black cherry and ripe plums. The palate is invitingly fresh with red fruits and an earthy undertow. The tannins are still firm, medium-bodied and express the crystalline character of the 2017 vintage. As the wine develops in the glass, there is an attractive tension between red and black fruits with a hint of liquorice over a linear, concentrated and dry finish.

Another star among our wines is Big Easy Cabernet Sauvignon, one of our customers' favorites and very popular at our events.
"Granite soils with Tukulu and Oakleaf layers provide a rich terroir that gives the wines exceptional depth and purity. The vineyards comprise nine different Cabernet Sauvignon clones, carefully selected for their unique qualities. The vineyards are oriented north and northeast to absorb as much sunlight as possible, producing the full and fruity wines typical of the Ernie Els Wines style. The Big Easy Cabernet Sauvignon Rose 2021 is accordingly a fruitier, berry-driven rosé with a hint of candied cherries and dried strawberries in the bouquet", writes Falstaff.

Big Easy – Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé – 2020
An elegant, summery rosé with a light rose-gold color. It is full of pink blossoms, followed by inviting and fresh summer fruits, some dried citrus fruits, a hint of musk and wild strawberries. Spicy notes and lemon zest provide a piquant complexity that continues on the palate. It has a beautiful texture, is fresh and lively and has a pointed and dry finish.

The Big Easy is also available as a Red Blend and is equally a customer favorite.
"The owner of the winery, Ernie Els, earned the nickname "The Big Easy" not only for his elegant golf swing and large stature, but also for his big heart and philanthropic commitment - he is also synonymous with excellence in wine, because it embodies these values: full flavor and yet easy accessibility through the palates into the hearts. Only particularly elegant wines are allowed to bear the name Big Easy, with fruity aromas and notes of chocolate and spices that will delight every wine lover for a long time," Falstaff emphasizes about him.

Big Easy – Red Blend – Magnum – 2018
88 Points by Decanter
Bright red; the aroma shows a lot of fresh berry fruit with dark chocolate and fine caramel and spice notes. On the palate with a beautiful, fruity start, well-integrated tannins and delicate oak aromas. Well-structured with elegance. The Big Easy is a wine that brings a lot of joy even in its young years.
