Wineries:
This region stretches like a band from north to south, along the wide river valley of the Olifants River. Here too, it is comparatively warm in summer and rainfall is rather sparse. Careful work in the vineyard and modern cellar technology have earned it a good reputation as a reliable source of inexpensive yet good quality wines. The grapes must be protected from sun and heat here. The somewhat higher and therefore cooler districts such as Cederberg and Piekenierskloof are also promising.
The rainfall is about 300mm per year.
