Youthful in colour with a dark, deep red core that transitions to a bright and vibrant garnet rim. The nose of this wine is very expressive with aromas of red and black fruits. Following these initial aromas of ripe fruit is a complex collection of spicy notes interwoven with persistent aromas of tomato leaf, blackcurrant, and cedar. On the palate, there is great intensity and complexity of flavours with the dark fruits and pronounced spicy notes from the nose carrying seamlessly through on the first sip. The fine-grained, elegant, and velvety tannins complement the richness of the wine and promise great aging potential if stored in the right cellar conditions. This full-bodied assemblage has an earthy minerality and inherent freshness that leads to a long, well-defined finish.

Vinifikation This delicious assemblage was carefully crafted from grapes grown on the estate. It consists of 55% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Franc, and 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and was matured for 17 months in 30% new, 50% second-fill, and 20% third-fill French oak barrels. The wine was not fined but only lightly filtered prior to bottling to subtly soften the rich tannic structure. This vintage shows phenomenal backbone and freshness that has become synonymous with the Constantia Glen THREE but also exhibits superb concentration. This means it can be enjoyed in its youth, but will certainly evolve for another 10-12 years under the right cellaring conditions if stored correctly.
