KapWeine - Cederberg Winery of the Year 2026 - Discovery Set
Six wines from the highest vineyards at the Cape
Cederberg is a winery like no other in South Africa. It is located about 250 kilometers north of Cape Town in the middle of the Cederberg wilderness, where the vines grow at over 1,000 meters and the peaks are often covered in snow in winter. The Nieuwoudt family has farmed the land since 1893, and the first vines were planted in 1973. Today, David Nieuwoudt manages the estate in the fifth generation. The cool mountain climate, the seclusion, and the virus-free vineyards ensure wines with clear fruit and lively freshness. This discovery set shows the full range of the estate: three reds, two whites, and one rosé. Ideal for getting to know a special winery, or as a gift for anyone who appreciates high-altitude wines.
The six bottles in the set
- Cederberg Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 From south-west facing slopes at about 1,036 meters, where the grapes ripen slowly and for a long time. Plum, cassis, ripe cherry, violets, and fine spice; on the palate, pure fruit, silky structured tannins, and refreshing acidity.
- Cederberg Merlot Shiraz 2023 Merlot sets the tone, while Shiraz adds spice and body. Black cherry and mulberry, plus black pepper and baking spices; fruit-forward, with soft, juicy tannins and a spicy finish. A versatile red wine for every day.
- Cederberg Shiraz 2021 A multi-layered Shiraz with red cherries and mulberries, subtle hints of mocha and cloves; on the palate, red fruit and dark chocolate, full-bodied with juicy tannins.
- Cederberg Chenin Blanc 2025 From cool, high-altitude sites, juicy and accessible. Winter melon, ripe nectarine, tropical fruit, and Cape gooseberry, with gentle acidity, a melt-in-the-mouth texture, and a clean finish.
- Cederberg Sauvignon Blanc 2025 From South Africa’s highest-altitude Sauvignon Blanc vineyards. Cape gooseberry, passion fruit, pineapple, kiwi, and a hint of lime; on the palate, spicy and creamy at the same time, with a fresh Granny Smith finish. Gold medal at the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon 2026.
- Cederberg Sustainable Shiraz Rosé 2025 From high-altitude vineyards with a cool climate. Pale salmon pink with copper reflections, rose petals and Turkish delight; on the palate, a sweet-and-spicy interplay and a fresh pomegranate finish.
