Wine regions
Kapweine does not carry wineries from the Cape Agulhas wine region in its assortment. Most of the vineyards located by the sea are in the Elim district, very close to the southernmost point on the African continent, "Cape Agulhas".
Kapweine does not carry any wineries from the Cape Point wine region. Some of these promising new vineyards are located barely a kilometer from the sea on the western side of the Cape Peninsula, represented by a few small wineries in Noordhoek and Hout Bay.
The small wine region of Cederberg is located amidst magically bizarre sandstone rock formations, caves, gorges, crystal-clear streams, and snow-capped peaks. The "Cederberg Wilderness Area," about 250 kilometers northeast of Cape Town, offers a breathtaking landscape.
Wineries: Beau Constantia, Eagles Nest, Buitenverwachting, Klein Constantia, Constantia Glen, Steenberg, Constantia Uitsig, Van Wyk Family Constantia is part of Cape Town and is located on Constantiaberg, which is an offshoot of Table Mountain.
Darling is part of the Swartland region but has recently become a separate, distinct district and differs considerably from it in climatic terms. The region benefits from its immediate proximity to the cooling Atlantic.
Durbanville has been part of the W.O. Cape Town, established in 2019. Durbanville is located about 15km from the Atlantic Ocean and about 10km from Cape Town City.
Elgin is a district that belongs to the Overberg district, including the Walker Bay and Bot River districts. Newer wine-growing areas have settled in the southern Overberg district.
The Little Karoo is a semi-desert interspersed with unexpected green river valleys. Excellent wines and port wines come from the region around Calitzdorp and De Rust. Route 62 is one of the most beautiful routes through South Africa.
This region stretches like a ribbon from north to south, along the broad river valley of the Olifants River. Here too, summers are comparatively warm and rainfall is rather sparse.
Overberg is a large region located east of False Bay, on the route from Cape Town to Hermanus, which is considered one of South Africa's most scenic routes.
The Paarl wine region is located immediately north of the Stellenbosch wine region. The Paarl District (650mm) includes the wards of Franschhoek (900mm) and Wellington (500mm), which are almost considered separate wine regions with their own Wine Route.
Nestled in the Citrusdal Mountains, located in the southern Orange River Valley and right on the northern edge of South Africa's Swartland region, lies the magnificent Piekenierskloof Plateau, which is the perfect natural environment for successful viticulture.
